Training

So what makes TDS’ Dog Training Program different? In a busy, metropolitan city, like Boston, one can easily find a handful of dog trainers within walking distance at the click of a button – what sets TDS apart?

At TDS, our focus is enriching the lives of pets in our community so that, in turn, the bond between pets and their people grows stronger. Our training programs are aligned with that same goal. By teaching owners to both better understand and better communicate with their pets, harmony is brought back into the relationship and home-life becomes more balanced.

With our programs, the most important thing is for owners to have fun and connect with their pets, using our trainers as guides. Programs provide mental stimulation to the participants, and owners should notice a recognizable decrease in your dog’s anxiety and stress.

  • Group Classes

Group Classes are held on the Second Floor of the Allston Daycare location. Classes have maximum 8 participants, so each participant has plenty of access to the trainer during class. To attend group classes, participants must have received their rabies vaccine (please upload vaccine records to your pup’s MindBody account).

    Cost: $250-350/6-Week Course

  • Private Sessions

Private Sessions can be purchased to work on specific problem-areas owners have experienced with their pets. One Hour Sessions to be performed in your home or local park to address specific concerns and work on modifying unwanted behavior.

    Cost: $125/session or $550 for a 5-Pack

Meet Our Trainer,

Tori Burgos

I began volunteering as a teenager at the MSPCA near my hometown. I soon knew that working with animals was what I wanted to do as not only a career, but also as my passion. I soon became a dog daycare attendant and started to learn how to train by the owner who is still a certified behavior consultant and trainer. Along with my shifts at the daycare, I started assistant training for classes at the same facility and began to be the lead of the daily training program for the daycare for dogs that attended. After I felt I had a significant amount of experience training dogs, I enrolled with Animal Behavior college and completed the dog training program, becoming a certified dog trainer specialized in behavior training and continued to teach classes.

I went back to school for my associates degree as an animal care specialist which further advanced my training knowledge. I also had opportunities to become certified in canine and feline first aid and CPR, fear free handling and positive reinforcement training, continued educational seminars in managing dog-to-dog interaction, understanding canine behavior, obedience training, understanding the human animal bond, and more.

I switched majors after my first year of college when I got accepted into an AVMA veterinary technology program. I graduated with my associates degree as an animal care specialist as well as my veterinary technology degree. After graduating I passed the national exam becoming a certified veterinary technician. Along with my current job at a general practice animal hospital and as a dog trainer, I am also in the process of achieving my veterinary technician specialty in canine behavior. I have two dogs (and a spicy kitty!) of my own. One of my dogs is a sports breed and I train seriously with her in competition obedience as well as AKC competition sports. We have achieved AKC titles in Rally, obedience, trick dog, CGC, as well as agility.
